Exploring Tioman Island on an ATV turned out to be an exhilarating experience. And, frankly, as a tourist with a love for speed, motocross and nature, I couldn't have asked for a better way to see the island. Sure, before my trip, I'd heard a lot about the natural beauty of Tioman, but no way did I expect to find such an exciting way to take it all in. Renting an ATV was the perfect decision (big thank you to my girlfriend!) and we found the rental process to be pretty simple too. Just make your way to the place that offers the off-road vehicles. Oh, and always follow the safety measures of course. The ATVs themselves appeared well-maintained and pretty powerful too, just perfect for eating up the island's rugged terrain. Early Bird Gets to Blast My ride started early in the morning when the weather was still cool and the day ahead promised endless fun. With helmet on and a the safety briefing under my belt, I was ready to let it rip. Ok, the first few minutes were a bit of a challenge, as I adjusted to the feel of the ATV, but I was speeding along the dirt tracks with ease in no time. By the way, not that there's lots of time to enjoy them as you blast by, but Tioman's landscapes are nothing short of spectacular. The thick greenery, towering trees and glimpses of the ocean every so often made the ride visually stunning. Also, the ATV allowed me to access areas of the island that would have been difficult to reach otherwise, especially some of the more secluded beaches and jungle paths. That said, just FYI, not the entire island is accessible, as a lot of it is protected territory. But even within the bordered off ATV zones, there's still a ton of space to discover and explore. Need For Speed Seriously, the combination of speed and nature was exhilarating—the wind whipping past, the roar of the engine, the ATV bucking below you like a bull possessed and the ever-changing scenery, it all made it an unforgettable experience. One of the highlights of the ride was stopping at this secret beach. The ATV's off-road appetite made it easy to reach this secluded spot, where I took a break to enjoy the pristine surroundings. This beach was completely deserted and it felt like my own private slice of paradise. The water was crystal clear and the sound of the waves was a perfect combination with the adrenaline rush. Unique! Awesome Freedom The best part about the ATV ride was the sense of freedom it gives you. Unlike guided tours that follow a set path, my ATV allowed me to explore the area at my own pace. I could stop whenever I wanted to take pictures, or just wait for a while and soak in the views. There were moments when I felt like the only person on the island, completely immersed in the natural beauty of Tioman. I'm not sure if you're still allowed to go off exploring on your own nowadays, but yeah, that's part why it was a ton of fun! As someone who enjoys a good speed thrill, I found that the ATV ride offered just the right amount of excitement. Tioman's terrain was varied enough to keep things interesting, with a mix of easy trails and more challenging paths that required more careful steering. The ATV handled it well enough and it never felt sketchy, thanks to the robust construction of this tiny pocket rocket. What also helped was the clear instructions given to us by the rental place. Anyway, by the end of the day, I was covered in all kinds of stuff that had gone flying off from the skidding and free-spinning wheels, but who cares? I was grinning from ear to ear till the next day, haha. Honestly, the ATV ride was worth every penny and I recommend it to anyone visiting Tioman who enjoys outdoor activities and has a need for speed. Whether you're a seasoned off-road rider or a complete beginner, this ATV is a fantastic way to experience the island's wild and ruggen side. So yeah, if you're heading to Tioman and you have a passion for adventure, renting an ATV should be at the top of your to-do list. It's a thrilling, fun-filled way to see the island and AFAIC it's an experience I'll remember for a looooong time to come.
